This week, the assignment was to interview either a curriculum or instructional developer who has experience integrating emerging technologies into the adult education curriculum. From this interview, we were to create a multimedia video.
I interviewed Stacy Kosier, who is an instructor at Carl Sandburg College in the Dental Hygiene Department. Mrs. Kosier has been an instructor in the community college setting for nine years. In her years as Carl Sandburg College she has started working with i>clickers and integrating them in the classroom for more successful learning.

Hi Kelli,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your interview project; iclickers are a technology I am not familiar with. Your interview provided me with significant information pertaining to this technology, and it piqued my curiosity enough for me to want to research more about integrating this technology.
For me, your project was visually appealing, easy to listen to, short and to the point, and the material was interesting. Considering I have never heard of an iclicker before, I very much appreciated the images and bulleted description. Great job!
Kelli,
ReplyDeleteThis is an excellent interview! It was interesting to watch, visually engaging and very informative. I like the layout of your video and how you included the narration script. Great job!
I was familiar with clicker technology because I took a course three years ago where the teacher used it to poll and quiz the class. I really liked that Stacy Kosier used the iClicker in two ways: individual and group format. The individualized iclicker promotes adult students coming to class ready and being accountable for knowing the course content for that week.
Thank you for sharing such a great video.

Thanks for doing your interview on this specific technology. I have always been curious about how the iclicker worked, but have not tried it myself. I may actually attempt to do so now :)

ReplyDeleteWell done Kelli. I too found it very interesting to learn in detail about one technology. I have never used I>clicker, but feel now that I know how it might be employed in a classroom setting and understand some of the pros and cons of the tool. I particularly appreciated you use of the text "slides" in this presentation, to help me catch the details of what was being said.
ReplyDeleteThumbs up!
Holly
Great interview presentation video, Kelli! I liked that you added the slides with the narration. It certainly helped me when my mind started to wander. I am familiar with the clicker technology as we used this every week for our Grand Rounds educational days as a resident. The purpose was two-fold: to ensure attendance (as we were also each assigned our own individual clicker), and to grade us on quizzes, etc. I enjoy the use of clickers in my lectures because it seems to add an entertaining piece to assess learners' understanding of key concepts. Though, I've also found it useful during those lectures where you could poll the audience on what might be considered more embarrassing questions to answer.
ReplyDeleteGreat video!
Kayla
Kelli,
ReplyDeleteI have heard of the I-Cliker before but never actually understood how is could be used beneficially in the classroom without disrupting the class. Your video provides a very helpful introduction to the technology and its practical applications as well as its challenges.
Your editing is very easy on the eyes and easy to follow. Your questions are clear and well thought out and you allowed your interviewee to speak without interruption. Thanks for the good presentation.
